HOW TO REGISTER

The process of registering involves coming to the centre to complete a
registration form with a staff member during our regular
business hours. Some
applicants are expected to complete two required assessments (scheduled for
another day) for literacy and numeracy. These are not tests but a means by which
to measure your skill level in these two areas, and to determine which grade
level of English and Math to proceed with.
Once the assessments are completed and evaluated, a follow-up meeting will be
scheduled with our Intake Advisor. The purpose of this meeting is to set up an
education plan with your specific needs in mind. Here's what to expect:
 |
Discuss
and clarify requirements for Mature Student Diploma (if necessary) |
 |
Review
previous high school transcripts (if necessary) |
 |
Review
assessments (if necessary) |
 |
Discuss
current and future goals |
 |
Talk
about obstacles, time commitments and support systems |
 |
Decide on
an appropriate course and model of delivery to proceed with |
 |
Get to
know you |
Your file is then placed on a waiting list until a
spot opens up in one of the courses discussed. A staff member will then call you
to make an appointment with your teacher. At this time you will receive the
course materials, schedule due dates for tests and assignments, and review
course and centre policies and procedures.

The waiting list is designed for students
who:
 |
Registered after the semester began and
classes (mixed delivery model) were well underway
|
 |
Require a specific course that may not be
offered during that semester or is available only on student demand and/or
only offered with the mixed delivery model (ie: Physics and Applied Math)
|
 | Want a course that is only offered with the facilitated delivery model
and the teacher of the course is already at his/her maximum student load |
|
Students
working towards their Mature Student Diploma are given priority over
other students on the waiting list. |
